Board employees on complete strike

PESHAWAR: The employees of all seven boards of intermediate and secondary education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will observe complete strike on Thursday as part of severe protest against the proposed reforms.

Protesting office bearers of all boards employees coordination council Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continued its protest on second week across the province and announced to boycott marking of matriculation exams along with duties in upcoming intermediate exams in entire province. All seven boards of the province will be on strike from today (Thursday), they clarified.

The education department KP has proposed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boards of Elementary and Secondary Examination Bill 2018, in order to bring reform in all boards. However, the proposed bill is not yet passed by provincial assembly.

All Teachers Grand Alliance School, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, All Pakistan Clerk Association KP Chapter, Private Schools Network and Teachers and Professors Association have also extended their full patronage and endorsed all their genuine demands put forward before PTI-led-provincial government, said former general secretary of all boards employees coordination council KP, Alam Khan.

He categorically said that all business of board of elementary and secondary education Peshawar came to complete halt from the last few days and all of them are on strike against the bill being proposed by education department. As the education department wants to centralize the examination system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  in the same of bringing about reforms, he added.

Despite 29 reservations made by law department KP over the proposed bill for reforms in boards and suggested the education department to bring reforms in existing education calendar instead of introducing fresh bill, he said and adding then why the relevant department is insisting to pass a new bill.

If their demands are not met until April 12, he warned they will stage a sit-in outside the residence of the ruling PTI`s chief, Imran Khan, in Banigala (Islamabad) to develop more pressure, he stated.
