Caretaker forced retirement: PHC upheld UOP decision

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprised of Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Shakeel Ahmad upheld the decision of Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar regarding force retirement of Bara Gali Campus Caretaker.

The counsel Abdul Waheed advocate argued to declare force retirement of Bara Gali campus’s caretaker null and void because neither evidence is available against him nor witnesses were produced before inquiry committee.

During hearing Khalid Rehman advocate and UOP Law Officer Riaz Ali Khan appeared before court while argued that Abdul Waheed served as caretaker at Bara Gali campus for 26 years. They argued that several complaints and allegations were placed against him and Abdul Waheed was summoned by the inquiry committee regarding the allegations.

The committee has found Abdul Waheed guilty and charge-sheeted in the allegations of forced retirement, UOP lawyer argued. They added that the petitioner had approached UOP’s syndicate as an Appellate forum but the varsity decision was upheld regarding force retirement.

UOP’s representative argued that after syndicate decision, Abdul Waheed approached PHC and added that concrete and strong evidences are available against the petitioner for force retirement.

PHC’s divisional bench comprising of Justice Arshad Ali and Justice Shakeel Ahmad upheld UOP’s decision regarding force retirement of Caretaker at Bara Gali campus after conclusion of arguments.
