CM chairs meeting of Provincial Task Force

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan Monday chaired a special meeting of the Provincial Task Force on COVID-19 at CM House Peshawar.

Officials of health and relief departments briefed the forum regarding the latest situation of Corona virus in the province and arrangements made by the provincial government to minimize its possible outbreak.

The meeting was also briefed about the expected scenario of Corona in the upcoming days and preparedness level of various departments of the provincial government to effectively deal with any expected situation.

Various options and suggestions to minimize social contacts and unnecessary movement of general public were discussed threadbare and it was decided that the government would take any decision on need basis to control the possible outbreak of the virus at mass scale.

The meeting was also briefed about the purchase and supply of necessary equipments with special focus on the protective clothing for the health workers dealing with the Corona patients.

The Chief Minister termed the role of the health workers as of vital importance in the war against Corona and directed the concerned quarters to further improve the protection of these frontline workers.

“The overall situation is in control at the moment and if need arises then the provincial government will take all those measures which will be required to save the lives of our people”, the Chief Minister said and added that all the resources in hand will be utilized for the purpose.

Minister health Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Advisor to CM on Information Ajmal Wazir, Special Assistant to CM on Local Government Kamran Bangash, Special Assistant to CM on Higher Education Khaliqur Rehman, Advisor to CM on Auqaf Muhammad Zahoor, Chief Secretary Dr. Kazim Niaz, Inspector General Police Sanaullah Abbassi and administrative secretaries of concerned department attended the meeting.

Later on, the CM paid a visit to the newly established Quarantine Centre in the premises of Postgraduate Medical Institute Doran Pur in the vicinity of Peshawar to review the arrangements made for suspected Corona patients.

The Chief Minister was briefed that the centre has a capacity to accommodate 150 individuals which could be increased if need arises. Separate rooms have been spared for every individual with wash room facility and other basic requirements.

The Chief Minister was also informed that as precautionary measures staff members deputed in the centre have voluntarily restricted themselves to the premises.

The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction on the arrangements made in the centre and appreciated the efforts of the management.

Meanwhile the Chief Minister also paid a visit to Command & Control Centre setup at Deputy Commissioner Peshawar office.

While briefing the Chief Minister about the Centre, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar told that the centre was equipped with modern online technology and GIS mapping facility wherein personnel of District Administration, Health department, Police and security agencies perform duties round the clock.

It was further informed that the centre has 24/7 rapid response team to respond to any emergency situation well in time.

The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction on arrangements of Command & Control Centre and appreciated the role of District Administration in this regard. He directed the concerned authorities to setup such command & control centres at all District Headquarters in the province.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the role of civil administration, police, health workers and security forces in fighting the Corona virus and hoped that with a good team work and coordinated efforts the possible outbreak of Corona virus could be controlled effectively.
