Cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed to receive Asian Award

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former Test cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed will be awarded the Asian Award in the annual function of Asian Awards, scheduled in the UK On April 12.

Mushtaq, who served for Pakistan’s cricket from 1989 to 2003, had been exceptional with his leg-spin taking 185 wickets in Tests while had 161 ODI wickets in his account. “It is an honor for me that I got selected for this award from Pakistan,” Mushtaq said after being named for this achievement.

The right-arm wrist spinner said that it is a lifetime achievement and it is only possible because of Pakistan and his fans. “I got immense support from my fans who supported me throughout my career. Without them, I am nothing,” said Mushtaq who remained a part of England’s coaching staff for almost six years.

Mushtaq was also the part of Pakistan’s World Cup 1992 winning squad which was led by current Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. It is pertinent to mention here that Mushtaq has already left for the UK to receive his award.
