F.P. Report

KARACHI: Top Pakistani women cricketers Bismah Maroof and Ghulam Fatima suffered injuries during a car accident in Karachi on Friday night, on Saturday.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a statement said that both cricketers received minor head injuries and were given immediate first-aid and were placed under the care of the board’s medical team.

The cricketers were coming back to their hotel from DHA when they met the accident. Another cricketer Muniba Ali who was driving the car remained safe.

The PCB further said that as a precautionary measure various medical tests of the injured cricketers were carried out at a private hospital.

Former captain Bismah Maroof and leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima are part of the training camp for their upcoming home series against West Indies women team.

The series, comprising three ODIs and five T20Is, is scheduled to begin on April 18, with all eight matches to be played at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Both Maroof and Fatima had featured in Pakistan’s last ODI series, in New Zealand in December, where Maroof had scored 89 runs in three innings with a best of 68 in a consolation win in the third game. Fatima, with six wickets, was the leading wicket-taker on either side.
