District admn launches anti-encroachments drive

LAKKI MARWAT: The district administration launched anti encroachment operation on Tuesday to remove illegally built structures in Lakki city and rural localities of the district. Following the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan the local deputy commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir formed a special team headed by assistant commissioner Eid Nawaz Sherani and tasked it to remove encroachments at all costs. The employees of tehsil municipal administration, revenue department assisted by local police took part in the operation.

After completion of demarcation process by revenue officials the municipal administration workers removed permanent structures with the help of heavy machinery. Mr Sherani was himself present on the site to supervise the anti encroachment activity both in Lakki city and adjacent Zangikhel village.

In Lakki city, several houses and a seminary were demolished to clear a road between Haqdad Abad and Hameedabad localities. The TMA workers also razed illegally built concrete stairs of a house in Minakhel bazaar. In Zangikhel village, a thoroughfare between Mela Mandrakhel village and linking both villages with Abakhel blacktop road was also cleared of all kinds of encroachments. On the occasion, the assistant commissioner warmed that the administration would not allow anyone to encroach upon state land and occupy roadsides and streets. He asked the encroachers to remove illegal constructions at their own otherwise the administration would launch stern action against them.
