FM invites Qatari companies to invest in Pakistan’s IT, construction sectors

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday said Pakistan wanted to strengthen economic cooperation with Qatar and invited the Qatari companies to invest in Pakistan’s diverse sectors.
In a meeting with Sheikh Ali Abdullah Al-Thani, the member of Qatar’s ruling royal family and Chairman of Pak-Qatar Takaful Group here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qureshi said the Qatari companies could make excellent profits by investing in construction, information technology, infrastructure development, banking and tourism.
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest including bilateral relations, trade and economic cooperation, were discussed. The Foreign Minister said Pakistan and Qatar had deep fraternal ties based on common religious and cultural values.
Qureshi mentioned that the government was focusing on economic stability as the country’s vast market with a population of 220 million, offered immense opportunities for foreign investors. He said ‘ease of doing business’ in Pakistan and the facility of e-visa were the steps to encourage foreign investors.
Sheikh Ali Abdullah Al-Thani apprised about the Foreign Minister about Pak-Qatar Al-Takaful Group and briefed him on the details of ongoing business activities in Pakistan.
He said Pak-Qatar Takaful Group was committed to further investment in Pakistan.
