PESHAWAR: Every year Khyber Teaching Hospital celebrates ‘World Breast Cancer Awareness Month’.
This year the same enthusiasm is going on where our expert breast consultant are counseling, diagnosing and providing accurate treatment to the females under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mah Muneer Khan Chairperson Surgery Department and Asst. Prof. Dr. Irum Sabir Surgery Department, KTH.
We are proud to announce that KTH has completed first 10 days of October by providing the maximum possible guidelines, diagnoses and treatments which will create a great impact for preventing this deadly disease.
Around 100,000 new cases of breast cancer are reported in Pakistan every year and females of all ages are at a potential risk Our Breast Specialist Surgeon recommends a monthly self-examination for all females to detect the early signs of Breast Cancer.
About 700 patients were educated regarding breast self-examination out of which 305 patients were screened as well. 13 biopsies taken so far and 3 new cancers have been reported in this connection a Breast Cancer Awareness Event was held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on 10th October, 2022 at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad. Khyber Teaching Hospital was recognized as a partner institution in the first lady’s Campaign against Breast Cancer last year was acknowledged at the event for the efforts put in. The data from our institution was quoted by the First Lady in her speech who suggested that The Breast Services at KTH should be used as a model by the rest of the country.
Khyber Teaching Hospital esteemed consultants Asst. Prof. Dr. Irum Sabir, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tariq, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad, Dr. Anum Wahid and TMO Dr. Spogmai Naeem also attended in the event.
