Hanif Abbasi rejects alliance with PPP

F.P. Report

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Muslim League central leader Hanif Abbasi has said Nawaz Sharif is coming to change the destiny of the country.

Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi on Saturday, Abbasi asserted, “PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif will become the country’s premier for the fourth time.” He urged the party workers to get ready to welcome Nawaz Sharif to the country.

Nawaz Sharif will be given an unprecedented welcome in the garrison city of the country like he received in 2017 when he was ousted unlawfully from the PM slot, he added.

Mr Abbasi recalled the contributions made during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif. Mr Abbasi said, “During the tenure of Nawaz Sharif, electricity was generated up to 10,000-megawatt (MW),” he said. Speaking about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Mr Abbasi said, “The CPEC was about to be completed when Nawaz was the country’s premier.”

He made it clear to ask the PML-N about the performance between 2013 and 2018. “Don’t ask about the performance of the 16 months during the tenure of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM),” he observed, adding that we have to give an account of our part, not 12 parties.

He expressed his hopes that the PML-N supremo will end the menace of terrorism and that no one from the country will live unemployed. To save the country PML-N made difficult decisions and tried to save the country from default, he maintained, adding no paratroopers would come, and people kept coming to parties.

Taking a jibe at PPP, saying, Bhutto is no longer alive. “We have never said to contest elections together with the PPP. The PPP has nothing to do with the exception of chanting the slogan Bhutto Zinda Hai!”

Abbasi also highlighted the party’s commitment to completing important projects, including the TB hospital project and finishing incomplete initiatives within a short span.

Chaudhry Tanveer, another influential PML-N member, assured unity within the party and rejected the notion of political vendettas. “We are political people; we have never done politics of political revenge and we will never do it,” he affirmed.

Reacting to his conference, Tauqeer Abbasi, the PPP District General Secretary asserted that Rawalpindi is not the exclusive political fiefdom of any individual.

Taking a dig at Hanif Abbasi, he said “Hanif Abbasi is an accused in the ephedrine case, and his appeal is still pending.”

Furthermore, Tauqeer Abbasi pointed out that Hanif Abbasi is barred from contesting elections himself due to legal constraints. This statement highlights the limitations on Hanif Abbasi’s direct political involvement.

“Criticizing the People’s Party does not flatter them.” He urged for a fair and level playing field in the upcoming elections, implying that such conditions would expose what he referred to as “political orphans” to potential electoral challenges. (NNI)
