Interior Minister Rana Sana accuses two SC judges of ‘bias’ against PML-N

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has alleged that Supreme Court judges Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi were “biased” against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and party’s legal team will soon approach these two justices to recuse themselves from cases involving PML-N leader.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Rana Sanaullah said Justice Ahsan was the supervising judge in the case against PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and “justice was not expected from him”.

The minister also put a question-mark on the impartiality of Justice Naqvi, claiming that irrefutable evidence had emerged in the audio leaks case that the apex court judge was hearing.

Rana Sanaullah said both these judges have given adverse judgments in several cases related to Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif, including the Panama case, party leadership case, Pakpattan allotment case and the Ramzan Sugar Mills case. “It has become a tradition in law and judiciary that controversial judges voluntarily recuse themselves from hearing the relevant case,” he maintained.

The senior PML-N leader averred that there is also a tradition of removing controversial judges from a bench at the request of the aggrieved party. He said the PML-N legal team will ask the two judges to withdraw from the benches hearing the cases of Nawaz Sharif and other party leaders.
