‘Islamabad wants cordial trade ties with Kabul’

LANDI KOTAL: Inauguration ceremony of the office of Agency Chamber of Commerce and industry was held here in Torkham on Monday. Federal Secretary of Ministry of food security Fazal Abbas Maken was the chief guest on the occasion. Chief Commissioner food security Sayed Waseem-ul-Hasan, senior vice-Chairman Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce, Jawad-ul-Hasan Kazmi, additional collector Torkham custom office, number of traders and businessmen were also among the participants of the moot.

Speaking on the occasion Fazal Abbas Maken said that except Torkham border, clearance regulation of import food items had been implemented throughout the country but now it was regulatory at the western border with purpose to halt various types of diseases carried by the food products of many countries, imported from Afghanistan.

He further added that Afghanistan was brotherly country and Pakistan wanted cordial trading relations with it but not on the risk of countrymen health. He assured that pro-traders policies would be formulated to further enhance trading activities at Torkham border.

Vice-President of Khyber Chamber of Commerce Haji Jaber Shinwari said that with the establishing of local Chamber all problems being faced by them would be solved locally. He maintained that previously exporters at Torkham border had to get certificate from Chamber of Commerce, FATA in Peshawar and with setting up of local Chamber they would receive it at nominal fee. At the end the chief guest inaugurated office of Khyber Chamber of Commerce.
