National economy is on verge of default: KP CM

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood khan has said that due to the incompetence of the incumbent federal setup, the national economy is on the verge of default and now, in a failed attempt to resuscitate the economy, the federal cabinet is looking towards charities. The indifferent attitude of the imported cabinet towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is unethical and highly condemnable.
Despite the stoppage of funds by the federal government, the provincial government has not compromised on its development agenda and is investing in human capital. Every possible effort has been made to this effect”, he said, and added that during the last four years, the provincial government has spent significant resources on the welfare of the journalist’s community, especially on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of press clubs, provision of grants in aid, medical reimbursements, unemployment allowances, marriage grants, establishment of media colonies and other activities related to the community.
He was addressing the oath taking ceremonies of the Swat and Nowshehra Press Clubs held here at the Chief Minister’s house on Thursday. Provincial Minister Dr Amjad, Advisor to Chief Minister Mian Khaliq Ur Rehman, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, MPAs Mian Sharafat Ali and Fazal Hakim, Secretary Information Arshad Khan and Director General Information Imdadullah also attended the ceremonies.
The Chief Minister formally administered an oath to the newly elected cabinets of Swat and Nowshehra Press Clubs. He extended his heartfelt felicitation to the newly elected president of Nowshehra Press club Jahanzeb Khattak, president of Swat Press club Shereen Zada, president of Swat Union of Journalists Hazara Ali and their cabinet members.
He hoped that newly elected cabinets would play a proactive role in promoting positive journalism and resolving issues of their community. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan also talked about the achievements of his government and said that PTI provincial government has gone beyond its capacity and resources for the establishment of transparent governance, improvement of public sector institutions and public welfare in accordance with Imran Khan’s vision and party manifesto. He said that under the uniform development strategy of the provincial government, every possible effort has been made to ensure the welfare of all sectors of society; the ultimate goal is to serve humanity without discrimination for which all possible measures have been taken.
He maintained that establishing a welfare society requires coordinated efforts and teamwork, for which all the stakeholders will have to play their respective roles. Media has a key role in promoting democratic practices, due to which it is considered as the fourth pillar of the state. Mahmood Khan made it clear that merit, transparency and rule of law have been the top priorities of his government since day one. The self-centered politicians who have built their properties abroad by looting the national exchequer have been exposed.
The Chief Minister on the occasion, also assured that the issues of the Swat and Nowshehra Press Clubs would be resolved on priority, adding that the provincial government has always extended every possible support to the journalist’s community and will continue to resolve their genuine issues in future.
