Ocean of people attends funeral prayers of Zakir in Pulwama

ISLAMABAD: Thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of prominent martyred freedom fighter Zakir Musa in Tral area of Pulwama district, Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) on Friday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, thousands of people from different parts of Pulwama district and its adjoining areas reached Noorpora area of Tral and attended the last rites of Zakir Musa.

A large number of mourners shouted pro-freedom slogans while carrying Zakir Musa’s body in a procession for the funeral. Dozens of women showered candies on his body from the rooftops and windows of their homes.

Multiple rounds of funeral prayers were held to accommodate huge rush of people.

The people were enthused to have the last glimpse of their young hero. Indian troops and police personnel deployed in strength had sealed all roads leading to Tral to stop people from marching towards Noorpora.

Funeral prayers in absentia were also held for Zakir Musa at Kashmir University in Srinagar and at other places.

Zakir Musa along with his associate was martyred by Indian troops during a clash in Dadsara Tral area of Pulwama district, last evening.

The killing had triggered massive protests in many parts of the valley, last evening, after which the authorities announced curfew restrictions and suspended internet services in the Kashmir valley. 

Heavy deployments of Indian troops and police personnel were made in all districts of the valley, today. Juma prayers could not be held at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid and other mosques of the occupied territory due to curfew and restrictions.

The authorities also ordered closure of all educational institutions across the valley to prevent students’ protests on Friday.
