Opposition stages walkout from Senate against money bill

ISLAMABAD: The opposition stages protest against government‘s tax amnesty scheme in the upper house of the parliament.

On Thursday the leader of opposition Shireen Rehman while talking during the session of Senate said that when there are few weeks left in completing the tenure of the government, why these kinds of measures are being taken and when the plundering the people of the country would be prevented.

She said that the nation should be told that why the economic emergency is being imposed in the country . Bringing mini budget before annual budget is the sheer violation of the constitution.

The bill regarding tax amnesty is negating the both houses of the parliament.

Leader of opposition Shireen Rehman criticized the government’s economic policy  by saying that the government is running the country through SROs.

Why there was a need to bring ordinance, when the session of both house are continuing. Money bill can be tabled in the parliament at the time of presenting budget.

On which the Chairman Senate told her that the sending the money bill to the Senate was the decision of Speaker National Assembly.

On which the opposition leader said that the Speaker had made extraordinary decision.

“We walkout from the session as a token of protest”, leader of opposition Shireen Rehman added.

After the walkout the PPP’s senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar pointed out towards quorum after which the session was adjourned.
