Pakistani players excel in squash in Kuwait

PESHAWAR: Pakistani squash players living in Kuwait Saturday expressed their determination that they would get the honor of representing Pakistan in the future and achieve success for the country and the nation.

The U17 Qadeer Rehman Gul, U15 Talal Rehman Gul and U11 Fahad Faheem Gul were talking to media here at Qamar Zaman Squash Complex Peshawar said that they are trying their best to win back more tournaments and keep their ranking high both at the national and international levels.

Qadeer Rehman Gul have won the U-17 Hashim Khan Squash Championship after performing brilliantly. Qadeer Gul Rehman, who is the son of Pakistan’s former national squash player, Rehman Gul and nephew of international squash player and coach Ahmed Gul, said that he is ranked first among players of his age in Kuwait as well.

He has started a streak of success at the age of 11 which is still going on. He won several tournaments in Kuwait and also participated in a camp held in Houston USA. Qadeer Rahman Gul said that he was supported a lot by the international squash player and coach Jahanzeb Masood in the camp organized in Houston and that is the reason that this year also he will participate in the camp so that he can get the international experience.

He said that Peshawar is his hometown and he enjoyed playing here. He wishes to represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the future and if given a chance, he will also play for Pakistan so that the country and the nation can benefit from it.

He paid great tribute to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association Chairman Qamar Zaman and Munawar Zaman for the steps taken for the development of the game. Under-15 Np. 1 player of Kuwait Talal Rehman Gul defeated Abdullah Abdullah in the Hashim Khan Squash Championship. He won the title against Abdullah Zaman.
Talking to the media he said that he also wants to play for his province and country. He won a tournament in Peshawar last year as well, while he was the runner-up in one tournament. Talal Rehman Gul said that he has also won many tournaments held in Kuwait.

Talal added that the game of squash in Peshawar is progressing and many players are very talented and if they get a chance in the future, they will represent Pakistan and win victories for the country. Younger Fahad Faheem Gul who is top in the U11 ranking in Kuwait is also passionate about playing for Pakistan, he said that he also wants to make the name of Pakistan like other players in his family.

Rehmat Gul, who is the coach in Kuwait, said in an interview with the media that he is coaching in Kuwait with his three brothers. Many players from Peshawar are currently coaching in Kuwait. His elder brother Ahmad Gul has been a prominent player of Pakistan and now a day coach of Kuwait National Team, many Kuwaiti players are performing brilliantly at the international level due to his coaching in Kuwait.

Rehmat Gul said that Pakistani players can’t represent Kuwait that’s why the talented players aspire to represent their province and Pakistan and if they are given the opportunity, they can win honors for the country and the nation.

Rehmat Gul also paid tribute to the former world champion Qamar Zaman for the development of the squash game in the province and the welfare of the players and expressed his belief that soon the players of Peshawar will once again perform brilliantly at the international level. (APP)
