PHC orders IGP, CCPO to submit reply in COC

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprised of Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Fazal Subhan ordered Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar to submit comments in Contempt of Court (COC) plea in recruitment case, on Wednesday.

The counsel Malak Shahbaz advocate argued that on 10th May 2023 PHC ordered the recruitment of an applicant named Wahid Ullah as constable by accepting the writ petition. He argued that PHC’s order wasn’t implemented after three months while the petitioner was compelled to rotate in different offices but to no veil, the counsel added.

The counsel added that competent didn’t recruiting the petitioner despite court’s order which is lies in the COC’s jurisdiction while PHC ordered respondents for submission of reply in this regard.

During hearing, the counsel argued that mistakenly Wahid Ullah was shown as resident of Charsada despite he has qualified Evaluation and Testing Agency (ETEA) test by obtaining 56 marks as well as also passed physical test and interview for Peshawar.

The counsel further argued that ETEA has corrected the mistake and recommended competent authorities for for appointment of petitioner. He argued that petitioner has approached PHC in writ jurisdiction while High Court accepted the plea and ordered his appointment on Peshawar’s quota.

PHC’s divisional bench comprising of Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Fazal Subhan ordered IGP along with CCPO Peshawar for submission of reply while adjourned further hearing.
