PHC suspends reinstatement order of VC Gomal varsity

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench comprising of Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Abdul Shakoor has granted status quo against reinstatement of Vice Chancellor (VC) Gomal varsity.

The reinstatement of VC Gomal Varsity Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad was challenged by two female professors while during hearing the petitioners and Additional Advocate General Muhammad Suhail appeared on behalf of provincial government.

Earlier, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad was forced to leave the position following division of assets among Gomal varsity and newly established Agriculture University D I Khan while laterally he was forced retired, the petition stated.

Moreover, on 10th Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reinstated Dr. Iftikhar on his position while PHC has already issued status quo in this regard.

The divisional bench has issued notice to Principal Secretary to Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and ordered to explain the circumstance in which VC Gomal Varsity was reinstated despite status quo granted by PHC in this regard.
