Research moot begins

KARAK: Three days’ national research conference on the title ‘Library and Research’ started in Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak under the aegis of Library and Information Science department and research scholars across the country would present their research papers in the conference.

While addressing to the opening ceremony of the research conference Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University Professor, Dr Mirza Jan welcomed the research scholars and added in his welcome address that the basic job of the Universities was the promotion of research based education. He termed the holding of national research conference a great job of the Library and Information Science department. He further said that education without research was incomplete and stressed that the student should be diverted towards research based education to make them able to face the challenges of the modern days.

He appreciated the performance of the LIS department of the University for taking the initiative to host such a mega event on the national level and added that this conference would provide an opportunity to the young researchers to present their research works before the students who would learn from their experiences and research.

Dr Mirza Jan stressed on the students of the University to take the opportunity for learning purpose and make sure their wholehearted presence in all sessions of the conference during three days. On the occasion the head of LIS department Dr Saeedullah Jan informed in his address that it was the first ever research conference in Library and Information discipline of its nature in the province and claimed that the department of LIS of Kushal Khan Khattak University has provided a very precious opportunity to all researchers of library and information science to present their research papers in the conference. He expressed optimism this, research scholars would present solution to the problems and challenges being faced by the LIS discipline through their research work in the country. Dr Jan also appreciated the support of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in holding the three days’ national conference in the University. On the occasion the senior professors of University of Peshawar and Islamic International University said in their addresses that Library and research could not be separated and they must go together.
