RMI conduct course of Healthcare Quality and Hospital Management

PESHAWAR: Rehman Medical Institute has successfully conducted yet another course of Healthcare Quality and Hospital Management. In this regard the Quality and patient safety department organized a ceremony and various public and private sector representatives from Health Care Commission, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, Lady Reading Hospital, and other prestigious hospitals attended the event and they shared their views regarding the course.

Muhammad Umar who is Leading this course said that the role of standardizing quality in Healthcare & hospital management is RMI’s moto, for which it has taken progressive initiatives in today’s ceremony. RMI will provide full support to all stakeholders of healthcare in KP region in any capacity building initiatives to help improve monitoring and evaluation of healthcare quality in line with international best practices. RMI has already signed MoU with PGMI to provide training in healthcare quality, patient safety, clinical risk management, on-going professional practice evaluation of consultants, credentialing and privileging of medical staff and clinical audits. RMI and PGMI intend to support and uplift healthcare quality and patient safety in the region through similar collaborations. Mr Umer is the Head of Quality & Patient Safety department, his credentials include Diplomat American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physician with sub specialty in patient safety and risk management.

The CEO RMI, Shafique Ur Rehman said during his speech, RMI has followed its vision and mission that was charted out by our founder 3 decades ago and Alhamdolillah it has led the way; private healthcare was recognized as a viable proposition when no one considered it feasible in a place like Peshawar ; excellence in medical and dental education and the importance of paramedics disciplines was identified by RMI’s management & now a large number of institutions are offering such programs while rmi started them more than a decade ago; we hope our initiatives in quality and patient safety shall encourage other providers to follow this direction.

Later on a detail panel discussion were held on quality management in which Mr. Riaz Tanoli from Sehat Sahulat Progam, Dr. Maqsood from Healthcare commission, Dr. Javed from Faculty of paramedical sciences and Dr. M. Tahir COO Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital Peshawar were the panelist. The panelist mutually identified the gap in healthcare quality and hospital management capacity building in the region, they focused on collaboration in the area of healthcare quality and patient safety trainings and agreed to put forward their efforts in involving public private partnership.
