Russia delivers 21 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Afghanistan

KABUL (TOLONews): Russia has announced the delivery of 21 tons of humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan.

The Russian news outlet TASS reported that the aid includes food and essential supplies. According to this report, for the first time in 30 years, an air corridor between the two countries was opened, enabling not only the delivery of aid to the Afghan people but also the restoration of diplomatic relations between Kabul and Moscow.

“This aid is beneficial to needy families who require food supplies under current conditions; however, we also ask these countries to provide us with technical exchange opportunities,” said Mohammad Nabi, an economic analyst. At the same time, some citizens suffering from economic challenges and unemployment are requesting assistance from the Islamic Emirate and aid organizations.

“There are nine of us in the house, and I work on this cart. My two sons died in a suicide attack,” said Sulaiman, a resident of Kabul. “We ask the Islamic Emirate to provide us with job opportunities,” said Shah Nazar, another resident of Kabul. The Islamic Emirate called the aid from various countries, especially Russia, to be impactful in the current situation in Afghanistan and assured the transparent distribution of this aid.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said: “We appreciate Russia’s aid and consider it a humanitarian cooperation. Without a doubt, it will reach those in need.” According to the latest report from WFP, more than 12 million people in Afghanistan currently do not know where their next meal will come from, and the people of this country still have an “urgent need” for humanitarian assistance.
