Senate likely to pass delimitation bill today

ISLAMABAD: Senate expected to approve the bill for the fresh delimitation of constituencies on Tuesday (today) as it is on the today’s agenda.

In a meeting with the opposition leaders regarding the concerns of the Constitutional Bill 2017, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi assured the opposition leaders to address the grievances regarding the bill.

The opposition and ruling directed their members to ensure their presence in the senate session as earlier the bill was tabled but it could not passed because of lack of member presence in the house.

In light of the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2017, Punjab will lose nine seats in the National Assembly while Islamabad will get one, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa five, and Balochistan three more seats.

However, the NA seats for FATA and Sindh will remain unchanged. The amendments have been made in line with the provisional census results.
