Sesame Oil made in traditional way in Kunduz

KABUL (TOLO News): In some of the remote areas of Kunduz, sesame oil is made in the traditional way.

Owners of a mill said that oil production in the traditional way has more quality and has benefits to counter some diseases.

Abdul Khaliq, 70, is busy with the production of sesame oil in the traditional way and in 24 hours they produce 30 kg of oil.

He learned this profession from his father, and he also produced oil from poppy for some disease treatment.

“This oil is of high quality, we produce oil in this way people don’t use machines here,” said Abdul Khaliq.

“This oil is of high quality, but some people complain of the bitter taste of this oil,” said Shamsuddin, a Kunduz resident.

Meanwhile, some residents of Kunduz province said that the high quality of sesame oil causes most of the people of the villages to use this oil.

“This oil is the best and is the treatment for some diseases and this oil is better than other oil,” said Aslam Yar Durani, a Kunduz resident.

“This is a traditional oil that was inherited from our fathers and grandfathers and they themselves used this oil,’ said Abdul Rashid, a Kunduz resident.

The use of mills for oil production in Afghanistan has a long history, but with the promotion and increase of advanced oil production machines, the use of machines that are rotated by horses and camels has decreased significantly in the country.
