LAHORE: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq has declared the Feb 8 polls rigged and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Sultan Raja.

Under the presidency of a central leadership, Siraj ul Haq, a meeting was held in Mansoora, where discussions revolved around the post-election scenario.

During the address, Siraj-ul-Haq expressed that the ECP supported the PML-N, PPP, and MQM in the general elections. He asserted that there was no level playing field for everyone in the polls.

He added that polls result was not aligned as per public mandate, it was an injustice to the public and voters and polls rigging was condemnable. He stated that any government formed as a result of rigged elections would have no political and moral standing.

JI’s Ameer said international organizations and media have raised questions about the elections, further intensifying polarization and destabilizing the political situation.

Siraj blamed the ECP for failing to fulfil its constitutional responsibility by conducting transparent and fair elections. Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami emphasized that the election results were rigged and manipulated, and demanded the immediate resignation of the Election Commissioner.

He called for the establishment of an independent and unbiased commission for investigations. Furthermore, he alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami’s mandate was stolen in Karachi.
