Torkham border suspends over dispute of installing sign board at the crossing

LANDI KOTAL: The Pak-Afghan border, Torkham was suspended for export and import movement, when a dispute erupted between the officials of the both countries over the installing of welcoming sign board at the crossing here on Wednesday.

Pedestrians’ were permitted to cross in or out the border, official informed.

The official said that the Pakistani border security officials installing welcoming sign board at the export route as part of construction of a custom terminal in Torkham when the Afghan border security officials objected to it.

It caused tension on the border that was followed by the order of the shutting of the crossing, he added.

Because of the suspension of the border, long queues of export and import loaded vehicles could be witnessed on both sides of the border.

Traders expressed their displeasure over the tension and said suspension of the sharing border over the pity dispute suffered trade between the neighboring countries.

They urged the officials of the both countries to resolve the issues being erupted at the border through dialog.
