Toshakhana case: Court extends Bushra Bibi’s bail till October 31

ISLAMABAD: A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Monday extended the interim bail of former first lady Bushra Bibi in the case of Toshakhana fake receipts case till October 31.

The court also adjourned the hearing of six cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan till October 24.

Bushra Bibi appeared in the court along with her lawyer Salman Safdar. Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the cases.

“I have appeared before the court for seven cases, six against the PTI chairman and one against Bushra Bibi,” Salman Safdar told the court.

“It was unfortunate that I had to appear before the duty judge at the last hearing,” he said.

“We had approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on nine bail pleas. Sardar Latif Khosa had read out the prime minister’s oath before the court according to which the prime minister has the authority to put, whatever information he thinks is suitable, before the public,” he argued.

“The PTI chairman’s six bail pleas were disposed of from the sessions court and three from the anti-terrorism court,” he said and added that the PTI chairman kept appearing in courts and getting arrested.

“We said several times in your court that there are security concerns, [but] no one listened to us. The PTI chairman was treated like a common man by the court,” he stated.

“What about Bushra Bibi’s case?” Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra questioned.

“If Bushra Bibi’s arrest is not required, we can withdraw the bail plea,” Salman Safdar told the court.

“Bushra Bibi’s case is in the IHC. We need a voice sample,” the investigation officer said.

Salman Safdar pleaded with the court to adjourn the hearing of six cases against the PTI chairman till October 24.

He also requested the court to requested to extend the interim bail of Bushra Bibi till October 31.

The court adjourned the hearing of Imran Khan’s cases till October 24 and extended the interim bail of Bushra Bibi till October 31.
