F.P Report

PESHAWAR: Levelling allegations against officials of Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), tribesmen of Bara Tehsil of Khyber Agency on Monday said that the department is involved in embezzlement of non-food items (NFIs) given by foreign donors for displaced persons.

Elders and members of peace committee of Malikdin Khel tribe of Bara Tehsil during a news conference held at Peshawar Press Club accused that FDMA deprived them of relief aid for the last two years given by foreign organizations for dislocated tribesmen. The elders among them Maghul Baz Khan, Daud Khan, Daulat Khan, Shah Akbar Khan, Muhammad Akbar, Lal Mast and others were present on the occasion.

They revealed that foreign donor organizations had handed over non food items (NFI) to officials of FDMA in 2015 for displaced persons but they did not receive it despite their repatriation to hometowns. Elders of Malikdin Khel tribe blamed FDMA officials for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of relief items as none of the tribesman was facilitated with these packages.

Tribesmen courageously said they had sufficient evidences regarding corruption made in non food items by FDMA officials and that they could present it on proper forum. The relief items, they claimed had been provided by UNHCR for tribesmen but unluckily those NFIs kits were distributed among them so far.

While offering sacrifices for the soil of motherland, they informed they had left their homes and shifted to safer areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during military operations and militancy. After law and order situation improved in volatile Bara Tehsil, they added that displaced persons returned to their homes in 2015 as per announcement by government.

Aggrieved elders demanded of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra to take notice of the alleged corruption and direct the officials of FDMA to distributed NFIs among affected tribesmen of Bara Tehsil.
