US envoy assesses possibility of using Russian bases in Asia

NUR-SULTAN (RIA Novosti): No specific plans for the use of Russian military bases in Central Asia, in the United States yet, said US Ambassador William Moser.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal , citing sources, reported that General Mark Milli , Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, discussed with Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov at a meeting last week about the possibility of the US military using Russian bases in Central Asia.
“So far we have no concrete plans about this,” Moser said at a press conference dedicated to the completion of his diplomatic mission in the republic.
Later in the evening, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin expressed the opinion that the topic of the possible use by the American side of Russian military bases in Central Asia to fight terrorism could have been raised during a conversation between Chairman of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces Mark Milli and Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.
