AAF raid kills Taliban ‘shadow district governor

KABUL (Tolo News): The 203rd Thunder Military Corps says the shadow district governor and the Taliban’s deputy intelligence chief for Jaghatu district of Maidan Wardak were killed in an air raid. 203rd Thunder Corps in a released statement said that Afghan Air Force targeted a Taliban hideout in the Akhtarkhel area of Jaghatu district in Maidan Wardak.

It is stated that at least six Taliban militants including Maulawi Hekmatullah Sabawaoon, Taliban’s designated district governor, and Sayed Khan Tariq, the group’s deputy intelligence chief for the provincial district were killed during the AAF operation. The statement added that a large number of weapons and ammunition belonging to the Taliban were also destroyed during the air raid.

Meanwhile, another statement by 203rd Thunder Corps indicated that during the joint clearance operations of the Afghan national defense and security forces Alipoor’s main base was captured in the Hes-e-Awal Behsud district of Maidan Wardak. This comes as Tariq Arian, spokesman to the Ministry of Interior Affairs tweeted saying a Taliban affiliate leader responsible for targeted assassinations and IED bombings, among the nine captured “terrorists” confessed to the killings of government officials and former Tolonews journalist Yama Siawash.

Qari Abdul Saboor, who lead a Taliban unit for assassinations and placing IEDs confessed to murdering Yama Siawash.Saboor was reportedly assigned by Qari Ma’az who was appointed by another Taliban commander, Qari Sebghat in Zarghon Shahr area of Mohammad Agha district in Logar province to lead a small Taliban cell and carryout “Terrorist” attacks in Kabul city.
