Airstrike targets Taliban group

KABUL: At least seven Taliban militants were killed in an airstrike which was carried out in the vicinity of Khogyani district. The 201st Silab Corps in a statement said the ASF called in air support after coming under fire during the operation late last night.  The statement further added that 7 militants who were involved in planning and coordinating suicide attacks and roadside bombings were killed in the airstrike. The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the report so far.

Nangarhar province has been among the relatively calm provinces but the security situation in some of its remote districts has deteriorated during the recent amid growing attempts by Taliban and ISIS sympathizers to expand foothold in this province. (Khaama Press)
