Anti-polio theatre enthralls students of UoP

Peshawar: Students enjoy and learnt a great deal about polio eradication government initiatives on national level through a theatre and video documentary display on Tuesday at Pashtun Cultural museum.

“Society needs to take cognisance of this menace as it involves our children physical , cognitive , learning and lifelong aspirations “ the writer and Director of the theatre said while summing up the role effective theatre can play .

“It’s important for us to mix humour, slogans and serious debate to ignite the social conscious of the society to see the things in their original state and I think Uzair Sherpao as a role model is playing this role as a  resistor first and then as facilitator” the veteran writer Noor Ul Bashr pointed out . Almost students from all colleges of University of Peshawar participated in the activity and their clappings, roars ignited the response from the sensitisation theatre.

Emergency Operations Centre KP government , University of Peshawar and UN agencies jointly organised this activity for hitting the last nail in the polio coffin that is disappearing from the national scene but rare appearances of polio cases has dented the national and noble cause of eradicating the menace.

The effective acting of Uzair Sherpao, Sarwat Ali and Zahida Tanha received appreciation of participants of the theatre .A documentary also showed that what may cause polio virus or what Islamic world including Pakistan is doing this to fight the menace also attracted the attention of students alike.
