Anti-terror squad arrests PTI’s Asad Umar in Islamabad

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: A day after the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, the authorities on Wednesday arrested senior PTI leader Asad Umar from Islamabad High Court.

The Anti-Terrorism Squad personnel arrested the PTI leader for violating Section 144 imposed in the federal capital on Tuesday.

A case against Asad Umar was registered on Tuesday for violating the Section 144.

Asad Umar along with other PTI leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Malik Bukhari were inside the Islamabad High Court when the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) took Asad Umar in custody and left in a flash.

The Islamabad police’s CTD officials picked up Asad Umar from outside the IHC Bar Room where he and other PTI leaders were preparing a plea to be filed in the IHC seeking a meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

PTI lawyers fought with the police to prevent Asad Umar’s arrest, but the law-enforcers overpowered them and took the PTI leader away.

The former finance minister was booked in two cases registered against him and other PTI leaders following the protests that ensued after Imran Khan’s arrest on Tuesday. The cases were registered in Islamabad’s Tarnol and Aabpara police stations.

Malika Bukhari said they did not why they took away Asad Umar.
