Civil society protest against Naqeeb killing

CHARSADDA: The killing of 27-year-old Naseemullah Mehsud, alias Naqeebullah, in an alleged police encounter on January 13 in Shah Latif Town sparked protests in Charsadda. A large crowd of Civil Society and other sectors of life held protest rally at Charsadda Press Club.

The protesters also chanted slogans against SSP Rao Anwar, a police officer often called an ‘encounter specialist’ who was allegedly behind the killing. The protesters also demanded an inquiry into the deaths of the many killed in ‘fake’ encounters by the Malir police chief. They demanded that the authorities take notice to stop extrajudicial killings of Pakhtuns living in Karachi by the police.

They stressed that tribal Pakhtun scarifies their lives against terrorism and the returns some so-called government official labeled them being a terrorist. Manzor Ahmad, one of the protester threaten that they would never quiet on Naqib’s extra judicial killing and will stage protest in Capital on 1Feb and raise the questions before the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa to change their policy against the Pakhtun or they will perforce to change our policy.
