CJ PHC personally observes damaging of PTDC’s assets

PESHAWAR: Advocate General (AG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shumail Ahmad Butt informed Peshawar High Court that the province had paid Rs,250 Million to the federation for the assets of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) while Rs,387 Million is allocated to pay arrears of the PTDC’s employees, because after 18th constitutional amendment the department was transferred to the provinces.
AG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa informed two-member bench comprising of Chief Justice PHC Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Shakeel Ahmad during hearing of Contempt of Court (COC) petition filed PDTC’s employee Rahmat Alam along with class-4 employees and other staff.
The counsel for petitioner Ghuffran Ullah Advocate informed PHC that a notification was issued in 2010 regarding transfer of PTDC to provinces which was mandatory after 18th constitutional amendment.
The counsel for petitioner added that provincial government immediately advertised vacancies in the tourism department which was challenged by the petitioner in the court who was working in PTDC since 1992 and honorable court had accepted writ petition but the decision is implemented while PDTC’s hotels are damaging.
Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid remarked that he has personally witness damaging assets of PDTC and added declared the jurisdictions for securing the assets from further damages while directed AG to uphold the issue in the cabinet meeting to resolve the issue.
Moreover, DMD and AS Tourism Development Authority appeared before PHC while further hearing was adjourned till 21 October.
