District administration alive to resolve problems

HAFIZABAD: The district administration was fully alive to resolve the problems of the masses in shortest time possible. Addressing a reception of meet the press in the Press Club Hafizabad, the journalist-turned bureaucrat, Saleha Saeed, DC Hafizabad, who was topper in District Management Group Examination, said that she was also aware of the problems of the journalists which would be addressed and she would explore the possibility for the establishment of a journalist colony in Hafizabad.

She also expressed her hope that she would also establish Arts Council for providing healthy recreational facilities to the citizens for their physical and mental growth. She said that she was focusing on improving sanitary conditions, provision of portable water, removal of encroachments and improving functioning of almost all departments and added that during the past about one month she has become successful in her strategy and has made all the non-functional filtration plants fully functional.

Moreover, the functioning of all RHCs, BHUs, THQ and DHQ Hospitals has been further improved and the emergency ward in the DHQ and THQ hospital Pindi Bhattian have been working in a better way. She further said that she was not only directing the concerned officers to set the things right but she also supervise the cleanliness and anti-encroachments campaign so that the traffic hazards should be removed in busiest chowks which have become choking points.

She assured that efforts would be made to setup separate counter for disabled persons and senior citizens in the hospitals and computerized land record centers. She further assured that strict monitoring of the land record centers to eliminate patwari culture and would show no leniency to the inefficient, indifferent and lethargic officials. She declared that she would take strict action against the officials found not redressing the complaints of the masses on merit without any discrimination and on solid and concrete evidences.

She appreciated the local press for its positive and responsible coverage and also coordinating with her for resolution of the problems adding that she would derive guidance from the media to mitigate the sufferings of the masses. She assured that she would come up to the expectations of the press and masses by making Hafizabad, a model district, where all sorts of educational, health and recreational facilities would be made available. She hoped that the media would continue its cooperation to resolve the problems of the masses in a better way.

Referring to a question regarding inadequate scavengers in the Municipal Committee Hafizabad, she said that the MC should generate its financial resources to recruit more sanitary staff and added that it has come to her knowledge that about 40 sweepers are still not performing their duties in the streets for making them neat and clean. She said that she has divided the city into different sectors and the sanitary conditions in the narrow lanes would be improved only if the inhabitants and councilors keep vigilant eye over the sanitary staff. She also called upon the citizens to realize their obligations and ensure their surroundings neat and clean by dumping the household wastes in dustbins.
