ECP decides to consult President, KP governor once again on poll issue

ISLAMABAD: In the light of Supreme Court order directing to hold elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces within 90 days, the Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to consult the president and KP governor once again in this regard.

After the announcement of the Supreme Court verdict on its suo motu notice on the delay of polls date for both the provincial assemblies, the ECP held an emergency meeting under the chair of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

The meeting was attended by the ECP members, its secretary law wing and other concerned officials.

Sources divulged that the law wing briefed the meeting on the judgement of the Supreme Court.

The participants of the meeting held a consultation on the matter of holding elections in Punjab and KP.

They decided to consult the president and KP governor once again in the light of the SC order, sources added.

The CEC, however, summoned the meeting tomorrow (Thursday) to hold further consultation on the matter.
