ECP responsible to ensure free, fair polls

MINGORA: Conducting fair and transparent elections is the prime responsibility in Malakand division. District Returning Officer Swat/ Election Commissioner Division Muhammad Nadeem Khan while talking to the elders and journalists of the area at Swat press club said that local body election are difficult because one voter will cost Six votes
He said that local body election in Malakand Division, it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure clean, transparent and peaceful election and provide all the basic facilities for it. He added that the Election Commission is an independent and sovereign body and its role is to bring out the results of public opinion.
He said that local body election is being held on March 31. Hundreds of candidates are contesting in seven Districts of Swat. “We are trying to train the voters, the polling staff and the people involved in the elections to give them basic information so that minimum votes are rejected,” he said. He further added that Village Councils and Neighbour hood Councils are most important for us at this time because they are the ones who form the local government system.
He said that the cooperation of all democrats was urgently needed for holding free and fair election. Earlier, Faridullah Khattak, District Election Commissioner / Returning Officer, Babuzai said that all preparations have been made to make the election transparent this time. Election staff training continues Election Commission staff are also in touch with candidates.
He said that rhe media role is also very important in the election process. He said that our contacts are open for all journalists and we can get all kinds of information and confirmation from all returning officers. Women also participated in the seminar. Election Commissioner Nadeem Khan gave detailed answers to all the questions.
