EU delivers life-saving medical supplies to Afghanistan

KABUL (Khaama Press): Near 100 tons of life-saving medical equipment and supplies have been sent to Afghanistan by a new European Humanitarian Air Bridge flight, the Delegation of the EU Union to Afghanistan said in a statement.
On this occasion, Raffaella Iodice, EU Chargée d’Affaires to Afghanistan, said: “This is solidarity in action: Today, we welcomed the arrival of nearly 100 tonnes of medical items and medicines to Afghanistan.
He added, “Our EU Humanitarian Air Bridge flights are a good example of the EU’s assistance to the country: In cooperation with trusted humanitarian partners, the EU continues delivering vital aid to Afghans in need.”
Since August 2021, there have been 29 cargo flights that have arrived in Kabul. EU humanitarian partners will use the consignment to assist Afghans needing medical care.
EU Humanitarian Air Bridge flights are part of the European Humanitarian Response Capacity (EHRC). Funded and operated by the EU Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) department, these flights help to fill critical gaps in the EU’s humanitarian and emergency.
EU humanitarian assistance is delivered via trusted humanitarian partners, onement added.
Earlier, the EU delivered near to 100 tons of life-saving medical supplies and items to Afghanistan through the EU Humanitarian Air Bridge flight.
The EU Humanitarian Air Bridge is a lifeline for persons needing medical care and assists the UN and humanitarian NGOs in continuing operations in the country.
