PESHAWAR: The Industrialists Association Hayatabad Peshawar has strongly rejected the government’s policy and procedure of allotment of flats/apartments to employees and workers under ownership right, terming it as illegal.
The reservation was conveyed by a delegation of Industrialists Association Hayatabad Peshawar led by President Malik Imran Ishaq during a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour and Culture, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai in his office, according to a statement issued here on Wednesday.
The IAP delegation consisted of M. Mohsin Wadud (Chairman Labour and EPA standing committee), Executive Members Mailk Niaz, Sajjad Zaheer, and former VP IAP Haris Mufti and others.
Secretary Labour Mohammad Akbar Khan, Director General, Employees Social Security Institutions (ESSI) Muhammad Anwar Khan, Director Labour Irfan Ullah, Secretary Workers Welfare Board (WWB) Muhammad Bilal were also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the issues pertaining to industrial employees and workers in detail. The meeting expressed serious reservations over the government’s policy and procedure for allotment of flats/apartments to employees and workers under the ownership.
The industrialists said that the workers welfare board has generated funds through contributions of employers.
If, in case, an employee became a defaulter, it would create an ownership issue, they feared.
Malik Imran Ishaq while speaking on the occasion demanded of the provincial government to allotment of Regi Lalma Flats/Apartments to Employer’s instead of employees and immediately vacating illegal occupations from labour colonies.
He emphasized the early resolution of industrial employees and workers issues relating to ESSI and provision of Sehat Insaf Card facilities to them.
He urged the government to take industrialists and relevant stakeholders on board before finalization and implementation of any policy relating to industries.
On the occasion, KP Minister for Labour, Shaukat Yousafzai assured the IAP delegation of arranging a meeting between the Federal Secretary and IAP Management committee, in order to discuss Regi Lalma Flats allotment and New Workers Welfare Fund Allotment Policy -2020.
The Minister also assured to form a committee of District Management /Police/ESSI /DC and IAP Management committee to solve the issues of existing Labour colonies regarding illegal occupation.
