KP food authority imposes fine, seals a hotel

PESHAWAR: On the directives of Director General KP Food Authority Riaz Khan Mahsud teams deployed across all the divisional districts of the province. Assistant Director Asad Ali discarded hundred liters of adulterated milk tested over Dilzak Road of the capital city of the province. Similarly, Assistant Director Saira Niaza and Aneela Mahboob sealed a hotel and charged another over unhygienic conditions opposite to Hayatabad Medical Complex. The team also imposed fine of Rupees One lac on Northwest General Hospital and Research Center’s canteen over bad sanitation, unhygienic conditions and violating food safety standards.

Similarly, Abbottabad office carried out an operation against private schools and charged PIPS School one lac fifty thousand over violating food safety act 2014.

Abdul wali Khan university Garden campus canteen along with Balochi Sajji Mardan were imposed combined charges of rupees fifty thousand.

Furthermore In a meeting held between Director General KP Food Authority Riaz Khan Mahsud and Sagar Mahmood Khan, Heading Quality Assurance at Metro Cash and Carry Pakistan, it is decided that Metro Cash & Carry will train Food Handlers in Peshawar voluntarily. The meeting was also attended by director administration Muhammad Shoaib and director technical Doctor Abdul Sattar Shah.

Sagar Mahmood added that Metro cash and carry is chain of established stores and every item of daily usage is available under their roof. “it would be encouraging if step in to Peshawar and all the other big names will also follow us. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a potential business and food business can flourish here. “he added.

Metro Quality Assurance Head Mahmmod Khan told that they will provide food safety level one training to the food handlers on volunteer basis. Both the KP food authority and Metro cash and carry mutually agreed upon to work together in future to promote and regulate food business to encourage investors.

Director Administration Muhammad Shoaib assured full support of KP Food Authority to Metro officials and thanked them for providing their services voluntarily to the authority to train food handlers in Peshawar. He also added that to establish a training school is part of our mandate and in near we are about to launch our own training school where we certify food handlers but Metro extended its support and with this encouragement now we will be able to start our trainings even from Monday.

Sagar also told that Metro cash and carry is intended to invest in KP and to open their outlet for which their high officials will visit the venue and soon metro will show its presence in Peshawar. Metro is already running its outlets across all the major cities of Pakistan.

Director Technical KP Food Authority Doctor Abdul Sattar Shah told that on Monday they will start training of food handlers including shelf and waiters who works in food business. “our first batch will be from the known hotels and restaurants of Peshawar who will be trained regarding food safety and standards” told director technical.
