KP govt strives to empower women, Says Shah Farman

PESHAWAR: Provincial Information Minister, Shah Farman on Saturday claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken several pragmatic steps aimed at empowering women in all spheres of life in the province.

He said this while addressing a two days recreational family festival as chief guest organized under the aegis of women parliamentary caucus and social welfare and women empowerment department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Gor Gatri Peshawar. He stressed the needs for financially empowering women in militancy-hit-province.

Several stalls including handmade stuff, handicraft, clothing, handmade jewelry, leather products, mosaic work, purses and clothes, beauty products, bed sheets, baby clothing, toys, food items and others were displayed on the occasion. The step was taken in order to encourage domestic women in parts of KP.

Members Provincial Assembly Ayesha Naeem, Fauzia Bibi and Miraj Hamayum and others were also in attendance along with a number of visitors and officials of various departments. The festival is part of provincial government’s 16 days long awareness campaign for rights of women.

Mr Farman categorically said that KP government has ended the age limitations in all universities of the province for women as they can get admission in all departments which is an obvious step for empowering females. He informed the government was also working on to implement women employment quota in all government departments in true letter and spirit.

However, the provincial government, he stated was taking all possible steps to make utilization of abilities and competencies of women along with ensuring peaceful environment. He added that prosperity, development and monetary stability will occur when women are empowered in country in general and province in particular.

Later, Provincial Information Minister visited various stalls set up by women consisting of handmade products and eulogized the entire arrangements and productive work made by females.
