Lecturer seeks promotion as assistant professor

PESHAWAR: Dr. Amir Hamza Marwan, a Lecturer at Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Peshawar has said complained that the university administration had ignored him in promotion and requested the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promote him to the post of Assistant Professor.

In an appeal to the Governor KP Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Chairman HEC the Lecturer Hamza said that he has been completed his Ph.D from United Kingdom in 2016 and according to the rules of HEC was eligible for the post of Assistant Professor but, ignored in discriminatory advertisement published by the administration on March 24, 2018.

He said that the University of Sheffield, UK and many other universities based in UK offered him teaching jobs but he preferred to come back to own country.

“I waited long for my promotion and was offended to see that the post of ‘Assistant Professor’ was ignored in the advertisement issued by the University of Peshawar carried in the major national dailies.

Dr. Hamza appealed Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jagra and Chairman HEC to take notice of this discrimination practiced by the administration of the University and exercise discretionary power to address his grievances.

He said that he believes in hard work and contribution in the academic field and have joined the university for the same purpose. He recalled that he met the then Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan and informed him of the completion of PhD. Who congratulated and assured me of the post of ‘Assistant Professor’.

“I have published five research papers and seven more are in line for publication and by the passage of June 2018, will cross the digit 10,” the appeal concluded.
