KOHAT: A PhD thesis defense of Ms. Nazneen Akhtar under the supervision of Prof.. Dr. Jamil, Dr. Zia ur Rehman (Asst. Professor) from Department of Biotechnology at Genetic Engineering and Prof. Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman from Department of Biology, University of Haripur was organized at Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST). The Title of her PhD Thesis was “Effect of Nano particle and bacteria on rice grown in heavy metal contaminated water”.
The scholar has published her PhD work in two highly reputed International Journals with her total Impact factor of 20 at the time of PhD Defense. The thesis was evaluated by two experts from leading universities in the field from China, one expert from Pakistan and one internal examiner from KUST.
The thesis was defended at Kohat university of Science and Technology in the presence of general public and evaluated by a Board of Examiners convened by Prof. Dr. Shahid Niaz Khan (Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences KUST) comprises of Prof. Dr. M. Arshad (Institute of Environmental and Engineering NUST Islamabad), Dr. Qaiser Mehmood (Assoc. Prof. Department of Environmental Sciences COMSATs University Abbottabad), Dr. Nawab Ali (Assoc. Prof. Dept of Biotech KUST-Internal Examiner). The public defense was attended by a good number of general public that includes faculty members, students, PhD Scholars and experts from industry.
The Dean, Faculty of Biological Sciences and experts in the Board of Examiners after announcing the successful PhD defense of the scholar appreciated the novelty of the PhD work and the hard work done by the scholar. The Scholar acknowledged the cooperation made by the supervisors and the department and acknowledged the support of her family.
Prof. Dr. Daud Khan, Chairman Department of Biotech and Genetic Engineering KUST appreciated the scholar and the supervisor for producing a novel work that can be very beneficial for the society.
