Norway vows to continue assistance for Afghan troops

KABUL: Defense Minister of Norway Frank Bakke-Jensen has said his country would continue support with the Afghan forces under the umbrella of Resolute Support.

He was talking to Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace. He offered condolence to the people and government of Afghanistan for the recent bloodiest attacks.

He said his country was ready to provide assistance to the security and defence forces of Afghanistan in training, equipment and other sectors.

Both the sides discussed various key issues, including expansion of bilateral relations, war on terror and other regional matters.

On the occasion, Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani lauded the government of Norway for providing assistance to Afghanistan in military and other sectors. He stressed on continued assistance of Norway with Afghanistan.

Currently, the Norwegian troops are providing training and counseling to Afghan forces under the umbrella of Resolute Support in Afghanistan.
