Over 21.982m voters to exercise right of franchise in KP on February 8

PESHAWAR: As many as over 21.982 million registered voters would exercise right of franchise during free and transparent election in Khyber Pakthunkhwa on February 08, 2024.

These voters include over 11.944 million male and 9.983 million female registered voters for whom 15,696 polling stations were setup. Shamshad Khan, Provincial Election Commissioner told media persons that all arrangements for free, fair and transparent election were completed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 45.5400 million ballot papers were handed over to the respective returning officers.

He said that 164,000 staff were trained and deployed at their respective polling stations in 36 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Shamshad said that polling would start at 8am and would continue till 5pm without break on February 8. He said that polling would be held in 44 national assembly seats and 113 in provincial assembly seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Polling on NA 8, PK 22 Bajaur and PK 91 Kohat were postponed due to death of candidates.

He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, Frontier Corps, Frontier Constablary and Pakistan Army would assist Election Commission of Pakistan regarding provision of security at polling stations. He said election campaign would end at 12pm mid night today.

Shamshad said that signatures of polling agents would also be taken on Farm 45 and results would be transmitted to Returning Officers and ECP through EMS online. He said casting of votes was a national obligation and urged voters to come out of homes in large number and exercise their right of franchise in a free atmosphere.
