Parliament must be respected as mother of all institutions: NA Speaker

ISLAMABAD: Terming the parliament as mother of all institutions, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Monday said Constitution of Pakistan is the sacred document that binds 230 million people together.

Addressing the Final round of the National Bilingual Declamation Contest in connection with golden jubilee celebration of constitution in Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in Islamabad on Monday, the NA Speaker stressed to protect the constitution.

“Parliament is mother of all institutions, therefore, it must be respected, the NA Speaker remarked.

Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that parliament is plate-form which represents collective wisdom. He said resolution of all challenges is possible only through supremacy of constitution and Parliament. He also added, “it is constitution which imparts supremacy to constitution.”

While appreciating the performance of contesting students from across the country, he expressed his hope that such children would make Pakistan’s future bright. He also stressed on the need to acknowledge the importance of inculcating constitution as part of syllabus at every tier of educational sector. He also added, “1973 constitution represents the sagaciousness of collective wisdom as it was first federal, parliamentary and Islamic constitution.”

The NA Speaker also said that it was an unmatchable political wisdom of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto which enabled this nation to have this sacred document. He said that this constitution is sacred agreement between state and citizen which should be implemented in letter and spirit.

He also appreciated the efforts of MNA Asiya Azeem, employees of PIPS and National Assembly Secretariat for successfully organizing these declamation contests.

On the occasion, MNA Ms. Asiya Azeem expressed her gratitude to Speaker National Assembly for always encouraging and celebrating diamond jubilee celebration with unmatchable zeal and zest. She also said, “these declamation contests are to inculcate basic future of constitution in our children.” It is pertinent to mention that final round of declamation contest was organized in connection with golden jubilee celebrations of constitution. Students from across the country participated in the contest. Late on, the Speaker distributed prizes among winners of the declamation contest. (NNI)
