Pentagon awards new contract worth $42.7m for Afghan Air Force training program

KABUL (Khaama Press): The Department of Defense or Pentagon has awarded a new contract worth $42.7 million for the training of Afghan Air Force pilots and maintainers.

“Sierra Nevada Corp., Sparks, Nevada, has been awarded a $42,722,019 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for A-29 training for the Afghanistan Air Force. This contract provides for A-29 pilot and maintenance training,” the Department of Defense said in a statement.

The statement further added that work will be performed at Moody Air Base, Georgia and in Afghanistan, and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2023.

This comes as efforts are underway to bolster the capabilities of the Afghan Air Force.

The coalition forces officials in Afghanistan had earlier said that the size of the Afghan Air Force will be tripled by 2023 with the addition of new equipment and aircraft.
