Peshawar corps commander inaugurates ‘Education City’ in Waziristan

PESHAWAR: Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Mazhar Shaheen on Thursday inaugurated ‘Education City’ in Waziristan.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Lieutenant General Mazhar Shaheen paid rich tribute to Mehsud tribe for their sacrifices for the nation. On the behalf of chief of the army staff, Lieutenant General Mazhar Shaheen announced complete cooperation in the educational project.

Praising the project of Education City, the corps commander said that he also wanted to be the part of the educational project.

On the occasion, he offered every possible cooperation for the educational project and added that in the modern era, one can progress only through education. The corps commander said that they would resolve all the issues via dialogues.

He said that Rs100bn package for Waziristan would be spent in consultation with the Mehsud tribe and added that the government would take measures for the development and uplift of Waziristan.

Earlier, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on January 27, had said that a peaceful North Waziristan was heading towards progress and prosperity.

Major General Asif Ghafoor along with a group of foreign journalists visited different areas of North Waziristan and interacted with the local people.
