PM’s Principal Secretary Tauqeer Shah resigns

ISLAMABAD: Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Dr Tauqeer Hussain Shah has resigned from his post, on Friday.

Prime Minister Anawarul Haq Kakar has accepted his resignation.

According to the notification, Mr Shah’s resignation will be applicable from October 31.

Mr Shah is a BS 22 officer in the Pakistan Administrative Service.

The Establishment Division has accepted his resignation.

He got one year’s extension in his service on a contract basis upon his superannuation in the last week of December 2022.

Former PM Shahbaz Sharif in July this year had also approved Dr Shah’s posting as Executive Director World Bank for four years which will start from the last week of October this year.

His appointment was challenged in the high court and his case is still pending in the court.

The high court has issued notices to the parties in the case.

Sources said that the government is considering the names of Secretary Housing and works Dr Shahzad Bangash, Secretary Economic Affairs Kazim Niaz and Secretary Finance Imdad Ullah Bosal for the new SPM.
