HAFIZABAD: The police in the district has smashed four gangs of dacoits, burglars, purse, vehicle and mobile snatchers and have arrested 16 of their members and recovered stolen articles worth million of rupees.
Addressing press conference DPO Dr. Sardar Ghias Gul said that about a month back two gangs of bandits had intruded into the houses in broad day light in Mohallah Model Town and Hussainpura and made the occupants hostage for some time and snatched away gold ornaments, cash and other valuable articles which had been a challenge to the police. Due to frantic efforts of the police, the police have arrested two members of gang, Arshad alias Natoo and Ali Raza of Sunni which had committed dacoity in the house of a businessman in Model Town and locked all the women in a room and made off gold ornaments and cash worth million of rupees. The DPO visited the house of victim and returned the stolen articles to them. The womenfolk of the area expressed their jubilation over the recovery of the booty and visit of the DPO to their residence to return recovered articles. They also showered flowers petals on the DPO.
The police also smashed four members Sana gang which committed dacoity on the same day in a house in Mohallah Hussainpura and arrested Sanaullah, Malik Ijaz and Faizullah and recovered the stolen articles worth million of rupees. The third gang consisting of five members headed by Samiullah have been arrested which had committed several theft and purse snatching cases. The police also recovered from them stolen articles worth lakh of rupees.
Similarly, a five member Seemoo gang has been arrested and the police have recovered stolen cattle, two vehicles, dozens of cell phones and other articles worth rupees 8 lakh.
