Police arrests nine alleged smugglers

MARDAN: Police officials claimed to have arrested nine accused allegedly involved in smuggling of heroin, ice and hashish. The accused were arrested in different raids carried out by police personnel in various parts of the district. District Police Officer Mardan Sajjad Khan told to journalists during a press conference held in his office.

After a tip off about the illegal activities of alleged smugglers, DPO Sajjad Khan told that he constituted two police teams to take prompt action against those who were involved in illegal business of ice, heroin and hashish causing to destroy young generation specially students of colleges and universities. He claimed that the police teams arrested six accused in Sheikh Maltoon Town area who were identified as Sardaraz, Ashraf, Asfandiyar, Khalil, Hasan, Jan Muhammad and Juma Baz. On the occasion, he revealed that 4500 gram Ice,1000 gram heroin and 5000 gram hashish were recovered from their possession.

He went on to say that the arrested six accused were belonging to a provincial network of gang. Similarly he said that in another police action, they arrested two more accused in Takhtbhai locality who were smuggling 1000 gram Ice and 1000 gram heroin in their motor-car bearing no (D-3568). He also claimed that the police preliminary investigation revealed the accused identified as Ibrar and Ikram were belonging to an international network who smugglers ice and heroin to foreign countries through different illegal channels.
